Online Current Events Stories

News is an unpublished account of real human activity, that seeks to educate, inform, or entertain the reader. There are two fundamental requirements of news: first, the writing needs to not have already been published somewhere else before. Second, it needs to come to the public for the very first time.

Because today everyone gets up and leaves their homes to go to work and school, different news values may affect the way news is read. Most local news channels today publish news items at times that are convenient for the reader, and he or she can choose to listen to it at home during breakfast, lunchtime, or after work. Some people like to get up in the morning and read something that happened the night before on the news, while others prefer to do the usual newspaper thing while eating breakfast. Some readers may be hard-core political journalists, who need to know what’s happening all around the world, while others may only want to know what’s going on locally.

A news report is most effective when it is written as short reports. Readers will only be interested in one story, if it is brief and concise. Because of this, news reports tend to be very short, no more than 200 words, and they’re often about someone, sometime, or several people. Because short news reports are easiest for readers to digest, they are among the most popular online.
