Traveling

Travel is the conveyance of people between different distant geographic locations. Travel can usually be done by automobile, bicycle, car, plane, train, bus, boat or other mode, with or without personal luggage, to any destination within a given time frame, and is one way or another. The transportation of people change over time and depend on the mode of travel chosen, but all conveyances involve movement of some sort, whether it is people material objects, energy or even space. One might think that the only type of travel is the travel between places, but travel takes on many forms and there are four main types of travel: land, air, sea and water. Within each, there are subtypes, depending on the environment and the mode of travel undertaken.

Land travels can be either on foot or by other means such as by train, car, boat or other form of transport, and the mode of travel may also include trucking, driving, or cycling. Air travels may be either by plane or train and involve movement of passengers by various means such as by train, truck or plane, or even by balloon. Sea travel normally involves travelling by boat or air, but may also include travelling by land or other vessels in a single voyage. Water travels can also be either through rivers or canals and involve movement along a specific route.

Air travels involve both flight and landing, where one place is located at one point and another place at another. Land/water travels involve travel from one climate zone to another. For instance, if you live in Denver and visit Toronto, you have moved from one city to another, but the trip itself did not “travel” because you did not “travel” across the cities in which you two lived, rather you moved from one climate zone to another. Thus, both Denver and Toronto would be considering “one place” while Toronto would be considered two places, each having their own climate zone.
