The Art of Fashion

Fashion is a general term of individuality and self-expression in a given cultural milieu and at a given time and venue, of apparel, footwear, fashion, makeup, hairstyles, and body posture. In its broadest sense, the word suggests a particular look dictated by the fashion industry at what is generally accepted to be fashionable at that point in time. It is practically impossible to narrow down the concept of fashion to anything more precise. Fashion changes almost as often as it varies. For instance, a few years ago sports shoes were considered the ultimate in comfort, but today tennis shoes are considered to be the ultimate in tennis fashion.

Fashion is normally a category of clothes that are suitable for various occasions and can be used to create an individual appearance. It usually follows a trend, which means that new fashions are introduced every year, as opposed to wearing the same style of clothes over again year after year. The most common styles of clothing that exhibit the art of fashion are dresses, suits, trousers, skirts, tops, pants, and blouses. A majority of people are familiar with the idea of fashion; they have an idea of what it looks like, whether they need to wear it or not, and usually where to wear it. The ability to distinguish between what is considered to be fashionable and what is not is, however, far from perfect. People who do not understand the principles of fashion are actually quite conservative, unwilling to change much in their appearance, while those who are well-versed in the ins and outs of this ever-changing art of fashion are extremely adventurous and experimental.

The fashion industry employs hundreds if not thousands of designers, tailors, manufacturers, and producers who all put their production on hold in order to take advantage of new fashion trends that crop up every so often. New fashion trends are introduced by designers who come up with exciting new ideas for clothing and accessories that reflect current tastes and styles. These designers bring these fashion trends to the public with their collections. In order to get a piece of clothing that will fit into a fashion trend, a customer has to visit a clothing shop that features clothing in that particular trend. After browsing through several designs, a client is then able to choose the piece of clothing that fits the best.
